What to expect

You will learn a cheer, dance, and stunt. You can also show off jumps or tumbling skills if you would like - but those are not required. People who are new or have never stunted before will work their skills in order to demonstrate safe technique,

You will also have a brief interview with some of our Board Directors. Don’t worry - this isn’t like a job interview. It’s our chance to get to know one another. The Board Director you interview with will be asking you why you want to join the team, ensuring you understand requirements, and allowing you time to ask questions. We just want to get to know each other!

Additional Info

Plan to pay approximately $350 total for a practice shirt and all uniform pieces. CHEER Tacoma is getting a customized, new athletic look that includes a rain jacket, long sleeve 1/4 zip shell, performance tee, joggers or capri pants, basketball or spandex shorts and an (optional) tank top. You’ll also need to provide your own all black cheerleading shoes and solid black practice bottoms (no mesh, zippers, cutouts). Additional swag items such as bags, hats, scarves, sports bras, etc may be available for optional purchase. You will be fit for uniforms during clinics and tryouts. We expect to use uniforms for 2 years before redesigning depending on our vendor’s availability of products. In order to help new cheerleaders afford uniforms, we are likely to split uniform payments into multiple smaller payments.

You must be 18 at the time of clinics and tryouts in order to join.

You must have proof of medical insurance in order to tryout. You must make it known to the Board of Directors and coaching staff if you have any permanent conditions or other injuries which may preclude you from safely participating in stunting, dancing, or cheerleading activities so that we may modify how you participate in a way that is safe for everyone involved.
